WLMG MG is celebrating an unprecedented start to the year following the announcement of MG Motor UK’s record-breaking sales performance for the first half of 2026. Local demand across Berkshire and Middlesex has mirrored the massive national surge, particularly for MG’s rapidly expanding lineup of advanced, electrified vehicles.

An exceptional sequence of record registrations across April, May, and June culminated in MG’s best-ever first-half performance. Nationally, 48,741 new MG vehicles were registered between January and June 2026—marking a striking 14.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This spectacular growth comfortably outperformed the wider UK automotive market, which grew by 9.2%.

Key National Highlights Driving Local Showroom Success:

The Electric Era: A staggering 91% of all MG sales in the first half of the year were electrified models (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and BEV).
Top 10 Status: MG has officially climbed to 8th place in the overall UK automotive sales charts for the first six months of the year.
Surging EV Demand: Pure Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales skyrocketed by 74%, far outpacing the wider UK industry EV growth rate of 27%.
Private Retail Dominance: Private retail buyers pushed sales up 24% year-to-date—more than double the market average of 11%—propelling MG to 6th place in the private retail charts.
PHEV & Hybrid Leaders: The multi-award-winning MG HS Plug-in Hybrid recorded a 67% sales increase, securing its spot as the UK’s 5th best-selling PHEV. Meanwhile, the MG ZS and MG HS models kept MG firmly positioned as the UK’s second best-selling brand for hybrid vehicles.
