Building on more than a century of innovation, MG has officially unveiled its comprehensive technology roadmap at MG Tech Day, hosted at its UK headquarters in London. The roadmap outlines a bold vision to democratize advanced electrification and intelligent driving systems, ensuring cutting-edge automotive technology is accessible, useful, and optimized for everyday drivers.
MG’s all-new Plug-in Hybrid+ system seamlessly blends advanced mechanical engineering with intelligent electrification. Designed to eliminate the compromises of traditional hybrids, the system automatically adapts across all speeds: utilizing pure electric drive at low speeds, power-split operation at medium speeds, and direct engine drive on the motorway.
Launch Timeline: The next-generation Plug-in Hybrid+ technology will debut commercially in 2027, spearheaded by the launch of the all-new MG ZS Plug-in Hybrid+.
In a major industry milestone, MG has confirmed that its pioneering SolidCore Battery technology will be integrated into future Plug-in Hybrid+ models. As the first automotive manufacturer to achieve mass production of semi-solid-state batteries, MG is utilizing a 3D spinel structure to deliver faster power response and superior energy conversion compared to traditional liquid-electrolyte batteries.
Product Rollout: SolidCore technology will first feature in three new MG SUVs spanning the highly competitive B, C, and D segments.
Rather than developing software in sterile lab environments, MG has collected more than 1.2 million kilometres of real-world driving data across 24 European countries. This data ensures MG’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are precisely calibrated for European road layouts, complex roundabouts, narrow lanes, and shared tramways.
Derived from MG’s premium IM models, this system addresses everyday European parking frustrations across more than 30 complex scenarios and 300 space types:
MG Pilot continues to evolve from standard driver assistance toward predictive autonomous driving, structured around a clear timeline:
| Feature | Operational Domain | Capability | Expected Launch |
| Highway NOA | Motorways & Structured Roads | Assists with entering/exiting, lane selection, overtaking, and lane changes under driver supervision. | Late 2027 (Debuting on a new MG SUV) |
| Urban NOA | Complex City Environments | Navigates intersections, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, and cyclists. | 2028 |
| Level 4 Robotaxi | Defined Operational Areas | Fully autonomous driving without driver input. Currently undergoing active trials in Germany, the Middle East, and China. | TBD (Testing Phase) |
By shifting the benchmark for hybrid efficiency, pioneering semi-solid-state batteries, and adapting autonomous safety software directly to local driving habits, MG is ensuring that the next era of intelligent mobility delivers genuine, everyday value to drivers worldwide.
