Longbridge Training Academy expanded: Delegate capacity quadrupled following a £500,000 investment.
MG Motor UK has broken into the top ten of the annual What Car? Reliability Survey for the first time, securing 9th place with a score of 92.0% and earning the title of the year’s ‘Most Improved Brand’.
The recognition reflects a comprehensive, multi-million-pound overhaul of MG's UK aftersales infrastructure, technical support network, and spare parts distribution system aimed at reducing off-road time and ownership hassle.

The jump in survey performance follows several key operational milestones rolled out over the past 12 months:
Operating in partnership with XPO Logistics out of Daventry, Northamptonshire, MG’s new warehouse dispatches around 2,500 orders daily. Featuring computer-controlled storage and extended operating hours (6am to 10pm), the facility maintains a 96% first-time parts fulfilment rate. Orders placed before noon now arrive at participating dealerships before 8am the next morning.
MG invested approximately £500,000 into its Longbridge training academy, doubling its physical footprint to 1,000 square metres. Workshop ramps increased from four to nine, while delegate capacity expanded four-fold (from 24 to 100 per class). The college trains technicians, service advisers, parts managers, and warranty specialists across the UK and Europe.
To resolve complex mechanical and software issues faster, MG expanded its technical workforce by 30%. This includes a three-tiered triage system culminating in specialist field engineers ("flying doctors") who deploy directly to workshop sites.
To minimise disruption during qualifying breakdown repairs, MG expanded its loan car program beyond its previous 96-hour limit. As of Autumn 2026, the upgraded scheme has supported more than 3,000 drivers.
William Wang, Managing Director, MG Motor UK and Europe:
"Customer care and satisfaction sit at the core of our long-term strategy. We have taken a disciplined, investment-led approach to strengthening our aftersales ecosystem across capability, infrastructure, and operational delivery.
The progress reflected in this year’s reliability survey is a strong external validation of that focus. Our continued investment is driving faster parts availability, deeper technical expertise, and robust mobility solutions that minimise disruption for customers."
Alongside physical infrastructure, MG updated digital workshop tooling across its nationwide dealer network. New tablet-based diagnostic platforms allow technicians to perform updates and run multi-vehicle diagnostics simultaneously, shortening repair turnaround times.
From its headquarters at Longbridge, MG Motor UK will continue expanding its pan-European aftersales network to support its growing electric vehicle customer base.Text here ...
