Double Win for MG with the HS Plug-in Hybrid and MG4 EV Urban Triumph at 2026 Auto Express New Car Awards

MG HS Plug-in Hybrid crowned Affordable Hybrid Car of the Year, following its #1 ranking out of 59 PHEVs reviewed by Auto Express.

The newly launched MG4 EV Urban secures Highly Commended honors in both Small Company Car and Affordable Electric Car categories.

Judges praise MG's unbeatable combination of premium quality, generous equipment, and market-leading affordability.

MG Motor UK is celebrating a highly successful night at the prestigious 2026 Auto Express New Car Awards, with the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid taking home a category win and the new MG4 EV Urban earning high commendations across two fiercely competitive segments.

The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid secured the definitive title of Affordable Hybrid Car of the Year. The spacious SUV, which features a premium interior and an exceptional 75-mile pure-electric driving range, recently outperformed 58 competitors to take the top spot in a comprehensive Auto Express review of 59 plug-in hybrids.

Praising the MG HS PHEV, Phil McNamara, Auto Express Editor-at-Large, said:

Furthering MG’s success, the new MG4 EV Urban—launched in February 2026—was Highly Commended in both the Small Company Car of the Year and Affordable Electric Car of the Year categories. The front-wheel-drive electric hatchback delivers a WLTP range of up to 258 miles and pairs a modern, high-tech interior with an incredibly competitive price tag ranging from £23,495 to £27,995.

Commending the MG4 EV Urban, Auto Express judge Tom Jervis noted:
