New MGS5 EV achieves highest safety rating

MG Motor UK is proud to announce that the all-new MG S5 EV, which recently arrived in showrooms, has been awarded the coveted 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP, Europe's leading independent safety assessment programme. This achievement solidifies MG's unwavering commitment to delivering safe and reliable electric vehicles.

The MG S5 EV demonstrated exceptional performance across all rigorous Euro NCAP tests, scoring an impressive 90% for Adult Occupant Protection and 82% for Child Occupant Protection. Its advanced safety features also earned high marks, with 82% for Vulnerable Road Users and 78% for Safety Assist systems, highlighting the vehicle's comprehensive approach to protecting all road users.

This latest 5-star rating continues a strong safety trend for MG, with both the MG HS and the multi award-winning MG4 EV also holding top Euro NCAP safety accreditations. The MG4 EV further reinforces MG's environmental credentials with a top rating from Green NCAP.

Aled Williams, Euro NCAP Programme Director, extended his congratulations: "Congratulations to MG for a well-deserved five-star rating for the MGS5 EV. Euro NCAP continues to push manufacturers to strive for the highest levels of safety, and it is rewarding that MG have responded so positively, with excellent performance across all areas of occupant and partner protection."

The MG S5 EV is equipped with MG Pilot, a sophisticated suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This comprehensive system significantly enhances safety and convenience, encompassing features such as Collision Avoidance, Lane Safety, Cruise Control, Active Emergency Braking, and Blind Spot Detection.

Beyond the cutting-edge ADAS, MG has partnered with Continental to ensure outstanding braking performance. The MG S5 EV utilises Continental's latest generation integrated braking booster system for EVs, combined with large brake discs (321mm front, 300mm rear). This advanced setup allows the MG S5 EV to come to a complete standstill from 62mph in an impressive 35.5 metres.

Since 1997, Euro NCAP has served as the definitive benchmark for new vehicle safety in Europe, providing consumers with vital, objective, and independent evaluations. Their assessments now include standard assist systems and passive safety, reflecting the evolving landscape of automotive safety.
