GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED: MG'S EPIC RECAP!

Wow, what a show! MG Motor UK truly brought the future to life at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We unveiled two incredible new electric vehicles – the sleek MG IM5 executive saloon and the versatile MG IM6 SUV – alongside some seriously stunning concept designs. Our presence here wasn't just about showing off; it was about proving MG is all-in on cutting-edge tech, thrilling performance, and designs that'll make your jaw drop, all while kicking off our second century with a bang!

These new MG IM models, where "IM" stands for "Intelligence in Motion," are a huge leap forward for our electric lineup. They're built for drivers who crave the next level in electric performance and smart tech, promising a ride that's safer, comfier, and way more entertaining.

As David Allison, our Head of Product and Planning, put it, “MG has already made EV ownership exciting and accessible with the MG Cyberster convertible leading the way. But now, with MG IM, we’re really pushing for technology leadership and innovation, connecting with customers who want to experience the future, today.”

Let's talk numbers! The MG IM5 Long Range can go an amazing 441 miles on a single charge with its 100 kWh battery. And get this – thanks to its new 800V architecture, you can charge it from 10 to 80 percent in just 17 minutes! Both the IM5 and IM6 are built for pure driving fun, with a digital chassis and powerful electric Hurricane motors that deliver insane acceleration. The MG IM5 hits 0-62mph in a mind-blowing 3.2 seconds, with the MG IM6 not far behind at 3.5 seconds. Talk about quick!

Inside, the MG IM models are packed with smart tech. Think features like "Rainy Night Mode" and a super clever 4-mode One Touch Park Assist that uses 360-degree cameras and autonomous capabilities to handle tricky parking for you. And for city driving, the MG IM5 introduces revolutionary bi-directional, rear-wheel turning tech that shrinks its turning circle to a tiny 9.98 metres! Plus, the Momenta assisted driving system keeps things safe, comfortable, and reliable even in the busiest conditions.

The cabin's star is definitely the massive, ultra-HD 26.3” infotainment display, backed up by a 10.5” touchscreen. Every model gets a gorgeous panoramic roof and a custom audio system with 20 speakers, including four "Sky Speakers" in the ceiling for the richest sound imaginable. And for a super quiet ride, we've added special double-layer laminated windows all around.

We're rolling out six models in the UK, with options for 75kWh and 100kWh batteries, plus single and dual motor choices. The IM5 range kicks off at £39,450 for the Standard 75 kWh, with the Long Range 100 kWh at £44,995, and the 100 kWh Performance coming in at £48,495. The bigger IM6 SUV starts at £47,995 for the Long Range 100 kWh, goes to £50,995 for the Performance version, and tops out at £52,995 for the exclusive Launch Edition.

Designs That'll Make You Look Twice!

The MG Cyberster made a stunning comeback at Goodwood, sporting a sophisticated new look: the Cyberster Black. This luxurious black finish isn't just black – it's infused with ultra-fine glass particles that give it a subtle sparkle. It's a premium paint job usually found on high-end luxury cars, looking matte and smooth when still, but shimmering to life when it moves. Designed by Jozef Kaban, MG’s Vice President of SAIC Design, the Cyberster Black combines sleek chrome details with an all-black interior for a truly bold statement.

And then there was the dramatic MG Cyber X concept, revealing a whole new design direction for us. This compact, all-electric urban explorer perfectly captures the creative vibe of MG’s new ‘Cyber’ sub-brand, mixing rugged style with a city-smart edge. With its cool matte grey finish and pop-up headlights, the Cyber X has a strong, confident presence, giving everyone a peek into the future of electric mobility as MG steps into its next century.

Finally, a crowd favourite returned: the MG EX4. Our London design team cooked this up especially for Goodwood, reimagining the legendary Metro 6R4 rally car from the 80s. But this time, it's powered by the incredibly potent electric drivetrain from the MG4 XPower. Our designers even gave it a fresh, bold livery just for the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. What a beast!
