About the Role

At WLMG, we aren’t just keeping pace—we’re setting it. As our group continues to expand, an outstanding opportunity has arisen for a strategic, commercially minded Aftersales Manager to lead the service, parts, and workshop operations at our brand-new MG retailer in Upminster, Essex.

As Aftersales Manager, you will take full operational, financial, and strategic ownership of the Aftersales department. You will blend top-tier workshop management, budget control, and team leadership with an unyielding commitment to core customer service excellence. You will build a culture of efficiency, compliance, high CSI ratings, and long-term customer retention from day one.

Key Duties & Management Responsibilities

Workshop & Operational Management: Overseeing daily service, workshop control, and parts operations to maximize hours sold, labor efficiency, technician utilization, and overall productivity.
Budgeting & Financial Control: Developing, managing, and achieving annual aftersales budgets, revenue targets, labor margins, and overhead controls.
Team Leadership & Development: Leading, coaching, and mentoring Aftersales Advisors, Parts Advisors, and Workshop Technicians to drive high performance, continuous improvement, and career development.
Core Customer Service & Escalations: Resolving complex customer issues and escalated inquiries with tact, fairness, and speed, ensuring core customer service values are upheld across all touchpoints.
Customer Experience & Retention: Driving high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores and managing customer retention, service plan renewals, and vehicle health check (eVHC) conversion rates.
Quality, Warranty & Compliance: Maintaining compliance with MG manufacturer standards, warranty processes, Health & Safety regulations, and group operating policies.
Cross-Department Alignment: Collaborating closely with the Sales Manager and Group Executive Leadership to align overall business goals and deliver profitability.

What We’re Looking For

Proven Track Record: Proven experience as an Aftersales Manager, Service Manager, or Senior Workshop Controller in a franchised motor dealership.
Commercial & Financial Skill: Strong commercial acumen with solid experience setting and controlling departmental budgets, margins, and operational KPIs.
Customer First Mindset: Exceptional customer service ethos with a natural ability to de-escalate complex aftersales issues and foster client loyalty.
DMS & Technical Literacy: Proficiency with major Dealership Management Systems (e.g., Keyloop / Drive / Autoline) and eVHC platforms.
Licence Requirements: A full UK driving licence is essential.

Key Package & Benefits

Earnings: Competitive Basic Salary + Highly Attractive OTE / Departmental Bonus Scheme (Dependent on Experience)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (with occasional Saturday work as required)

Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
