About Motability
Motability is a charity founded in 1977 to help disabled people stay mobile with cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs. The Motability Scheme began in 1978 and since then over 2.5 million vehicles have been provided to help disable people with their mobility needs.
Motability was formed after the government introduced to Mobility Allowance in 1976. The cash allowance was designed to give people the choice of how they used the money, rather than imposing a particular type of vehicle upon them. It was a positive step, but it soon became clear that this allowance was not enough to buy and run even a small car.
Motability was set up as a charity so that it could raise funds and make grants to provide customers with a mobility package even if their allowance would not cover the car and adaptations they needed. The package included insurance, aftersales care and breakdown assistance.
Motability have helped thousands of disabled drivers to become more mobile, giving them a level of independence they would otherwise be deprived of. We at the West London Motor Group are proud to be taking part in the scheme and do our best to make sure we provide you with a Motability vehicle that suits your needs.
